North Itasca Electric Co-op, Inc. now offers the protection of whole house surge suppressors. These surge suppressors connect to our electric meter and protect your expensive appliances from damaging voltage spikes that may travel down the power lines. We suggest that you still use individual surge protectors on your computer, television and satellite TV systems for added protection.
The surge suppressors can be installed by North Itasca Electric and leased for $3.95 plus tax per month. The $3.95 monthly fee will be added to your monthly electric bill. Seasonal members can pay the $47.40 annual fee with their annual bill.
The whole house surge suppressor will help protect your expensive appliance motors and electronics from high voltage caused by lightning or other power line spikes. It will not protect the home from spikes that enter through the telephone line, satellite cable or cable TV. It also offers no protection against low voltage problems.
