Message from the Board Chair

continued

Your Board of Directors arrived at some important decisions about this question at its regular April meeting. First, to enable us to conduct normal business to the greatest extent possible, the elections for the director representatives in districts 4, 5 and 6 will continue on schedule but will be done by mail only. This will not amount to a real change as over 95 percent of the annual director voting is normally done by mail.

As we do every year, those of you in the electing districts will receive a ballot in the mail to be completed and returned. They will be tallied in June by a canvassing board called for that purpose (with proper distancing safeguards) and the results announced through WATTS News. To protect our staff the ballots can only be received by mail or in the after-hours deposit slot at the co-op office. We ask every member submitting a ballot to be sure to return it on time to be counted. Your vote is very important. If you have any question about your district, please call the co-op.

This year the public safety measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus will not allow us to conduct the annual meeting in June. It is our intent to hold the annual meeting this year, but it will be delayed to a future date when it is safe to do so. We will provide more information as we watch the progress of public health and how that might influence the Governor's directives.

The Board of Directors is dedicated to the members of this cooperative and the democratic principles on which we are founded, and to insuring the safe and continued operation of the business during this challenging time. We greatly appreciate your consideration and support.
