Good afternoon North Itasca;
My how this article has changed since my first draft. I had begun with talking about the MREA Annual meeting
that we were planning on attending. Because of the current COVID-19 situation, more events are canceled every
day. We did not take our trip to the capitol to visit with our legislators. These are unique times indeed./p>
Folks, I’m not trying to fan the flames of the concerns felt by many.
I have many responsibilities to many people at North Itasca Electric. The biggest responsibility is safety.
Due to the virus situation I had to make the very difficult decision to close the office doors to non-employees.
This was to ensure we are doing our part to prevent the spread of this virus. I must ensure our employees can
be safe and healthy at work to best serve you, my Member-Owner. Also, if our building were contaminated, anyone
of you that came in would be exposed. We have been washing everything with bleach, social distancing and making
changes around the building to ensure you have reliable power. Should you need anything, or have concerns, don't
hesitate to call the office. Like with any storm, we are here to serve you.
Co-op is exempt from CIP
by Jerry Loney
What does this mean? It means that North Itasca Electric Cooperative Inc. now has fewer members
than that required by regulations to participate in and support CIP (the Conservation Improvement
Program). Cooperatives below 5,000-members can be exempt from the state mandate to participate.
According to our year-end report, North Itasca Electric Cooperative now has 4,930 members, placing
our membership below the 5,000 member mark.
The CIP programs North Itasca Electric has participated in for so many years will not be abandoned.
Roxanne's Sales Talk
by Roxanne Prather, Member Services Representative
Because of the coronavirus North Itasca Electric has had to resort to a locked door policy, until further
notice! I’m really hoping this won’t be for long, but we just don't know.
We all must do our part to keep everyone safe. I realize that this is inconvenient when it comes to purchasing
appliances, but we will just have to do a lot over the phone and on the computer. We will still offer delivery,
but to the outside of your home. You will have to get help getting it into your home. Or you can still pick up.
We can leave the cart if you’d like to use it, then you'd just have to drop it back off at the Co-op.
Scholarship applications available
