Change the world with Charity@13

by Sally Sedgwick

Best friends Corinne Hubbard of Coleraine and Bekah Storlie or Bigfork are doing something special with their free time.

Since they were little, said Bekah, they would set up a lemonade stand in front of Kocianís grocery to raise money for cancer research. Then when one of their family members had health issues, it brought charity close to home.

ďNow itís really important for us to fundraise for people who need our help,Ē said Bekah.

CEO Report

by Brad Dolinski, CEO

Hello North Itasca Electric Member-Owners,

I canít believe how time flies by! I feel like I was just making Thanksgiving dinner and here I am getting ready for Christmas! Iím happy to see snow on the ground, it just doesnít feel the same without it this time of the year.

This past month has brought some changes at North Itasca. First off, we have a new employee! Welcome to Sheila Hafeman. Sheila has started working in the billing department for all of us. She is passionate about our area and we are all excited to have her on the team. The next news I must share isnít as positive. David Priem has decided to take employment with Northern Clearing. Dave has been a long-time employee for North Itasca Electric and will be greatly missed. He has outstanding system knowledge, and great trade skills. I wish him the best of luck in his new adventures, thank you for the years of service to our member-owners.

Board Chair Message

by Larry Salmela, Chairman of the Board

The employees and board at your electric co-op have engaged in strategic planning periodically to help us focus on the important issues expected over the next few years. We concluded the latest round of strategic planning at the beginning of December.

We had help with organizing this effort from one of the co-opís lending organizations, one of our bankers. The facilitators came prepared with charts to illustrate the experience over the past several years in Minnesota and the nation with declining growth in electricity consumption. The charts, state and national on the same page, are reprinted for you here.
