Each of these projects is in response to replacing older lines and will improve voltage and balancing issues.
I also realize that spring and summer bring with them projects at our homes. Many of us will be busy in our gardens and working around our homes on renovation or building projects. When starting these projects, please think of what lies beneath and overhead. Whether itís planting a garden or an excavation project, donít forget to call Gopher State One Call at least 48 hours before you dig. They will come out and mark the underground lines for you to prevent injury or loss of power. They can be reached at 1 (800) 252-1166 or online at gopherstateonecall.org.
Similarly, when youíre working on your roof or carrying ladders, donít forget about what is above you. Look for overhead lines and take precautions so that you donít come into contact with a line. When in doubt, call our office with any questions. Safety is our top priority here at North Itasca Electric.
Operation Round Up®
Iím pleased to announce the Operation Round Up Trust Board met April 19 to distribute $9,812 to community organizations. Iíd like to thank the Trust Board for its stewardship of this great organization and to those who volunteer in our communities to make these worthwhile projects happen.
The next application deadline will be in early October.
A list of organizations and the grants received is located on this website. I encourage non-profit community organizations to apply to this program.
Motherís Day Open House
Iíd like to invite you to join friends and employees of North Itasca Electric at our annual Motherís Day Open House on Friday May 12. Weíll have coffee and rolls as well as great deals on appliances throughout the day.
Project Green Touch
Due to a lack of volunteers we will not be holding the Project Green Touch event this year. We were scheduled to meet at the Scenic State Park on May 6 to assist in getting the park ready for the upcoming tourism season. This has been an annual event for your cooperative and many cooperatives across the state.
The annual meeting for North Itasca Electric Cooperative is scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at the Northome school. Breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m. followed by the business meeting at 10:00 a.m. Please join us for a review of 2016 and whatís to come in 2017 and beyond.
