Roxanne's Sales Talk

continued

Minnesota’s allocation of $5,009,000 includes rebates on:

  • clothes waters ($200)
  • dishwashers ($150)
  • freezers ($100 with purchase and proof of recycling, or $50 for purchase only)
  • refrigerators ($200 with purchase and proof of recycling, or $100 for purchase only)

The rebates are totally up to the customer and are on a first-come first-serve basis. Starting March 1 the customer would have to register online to the Minnesota website that will be set up as the program gets closer, and apply for the rebate. The customer has 17 days to buy the appliance and turn in the paperwork, then the rebate is supposed to be mailed directly to the customer within 30 days. The rebate is only available to Minnesota residents. There is supposed to be a waiting list that you can apply to if the rebate funds run out.

North Itasca Electric is still waiting to see what Energy Star appliances qualify for the rebates. We will keep you posted as we find out.

North Itasca Electric rebates

North Itasca Electric offers Energy Star rebates as well, but these have changed a little in 2010 and are as follows:

  • Rebates for refrigerators will be approved for new construction only, unless the customer is replacing an older (working) refrigerator with an Energy Star refrigerator. (We can recycle your old working refrigerator for you as long as you are buying the new one from North Itasca Electric.) If the home has a second working refrigerator there will be no rebate given! Great River Energy would like to see all old refrigerators recycled due to the fact that they use more electricity.

  • GRE offers a $50 rebate if the home only has one refrigerator with an additional $25 for recycling a working unit upon showing roof that it was working and recycled. The appliance has to be installed on North Itasca Electric’s service territory. North Itasca Electric will match the $50 if you buy the Energy Star refrigerator from us for a total of $125 possible on a refrigerator or freezer.

  • Clothes washers and dishwashers still receive $25 from GRE, and the co-op will match that $25 if you buy it from us for a possible total of $50.
