Brick storage heat...good choice!

Bill and Carol Silliman chose to heat their home using a brick storage Steffes furnace. This furnace heats their home with the off-peak energy rate of 4.3 cents per kWh supplied from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Electricity heats ceramic brick up to 1300 degrees during off-peak hours, storing enough heat to last the entire day or until the off-peak hours are available again.

Operation RoundUp® to meet in October

Thanks to the generosity of nearly 80 percent of the Members of North Itasca Electric Co-op., the Board of Trustees for Operation RoundUp® will have approximately $11,000 to distribute to various communities and organizations in the area.

National energy bill moves through Congress

When the House adjourned this summer, it left behind a comprehensive energy bill passed in June; the American Clean Energy and Security Act, H.R. 2454. The bill addressed a number of issues and formulated the “Cap and Trade” basis of reducing carbon emissions in the country.
What is Cap and Trade? According to National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Environmental Issues Vice-President Kirk Johnson, the “cap” is a national limit on carbon emissions, and the “trade” is a market where companies have the ability to buy and sell emission permits.

I would like to take the time to tell you about one of the Affinity washer and dryer sets that we have on the showroom floor. There is a $100.00 rebate from Frigidaire until October 10, and North Itasca Electric offers a $25.00 Energy Star rebate on the washer if you buy it from us and another $25.00 if it is installed on our system. That’s a possible $150 rebate on the pair. There are a few models that qualify but I have this set on the floor.

Bigfork Valley Challenge
Saturday, Sept. 12
The Bigfork Valley Challenge is Saturday, Sept. 12 - just around the corner!
The Bigfork Valley Challenge will have three events this year; a half marathon, a 4.5 mile competitive run and a 3 mile walk along the scenic and winding Jingo Lake Rd. in the Chippewa National Forest. The half marathon also runs along Scenic Highway 7 and Farm Camp Rd.
