We all need to start conserving energy. This will not only save on your electric bill, but will help reduce the need for producing higher priced renewable energy and purchases on the open market. There are many things which can be done to conserve energy. How many of you changed out your standard light bulbs with Energy Star CFL’s (Compact Fluorescent Light)? Did you know that North Itasca Electric will rebate you $2.00 per CFL bulb you purchase? How many of you have added insulation in your attics reducing the amount of heat lost in winter months, or even caulked around windows and doors? Are you still using that “not so efficient” water heater that is 20 years old? Conserving energy will help control the costs of energy.
North Itasca Electric through GRE also offers many types of rebates that would reduce the cost of your upgrade and at the same time reduce your electric bill. These rebates could be through electric appliances, light fixture replacement, CFL light bulbs, air and ground source heat pumps, Energy Star Central Air Conditioners and more. This also applies for commercial and industrial establishments. Stop in and talk to us about what you can do to help in these changing times of energy.
I will be having a tent at the Annual Meeting with displays showing the difference in energy consumption between CFL light bulbs and standard bulbs, and literature on available rebates. So come to the Annual Meeting June 14th. I look forward to meeting as many members as possible. Breakfast is on us from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by the Annual Meeting.
I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
