Roxanne's Sales Talk

... continued

When you are washing clothes try adding 1/2 cup baking soda during the rinse cycle or 1/2 cup white vinegar during the wash cycle (do not use vinegar if you are using bleach, the combination can be toxic). Baking soda and vinegar are more natural softeners for your clothes.

Look for wash detergents with soy based softeners included; these can be found in many natural food stores or bought online.

Separate your cotton fabrics and your synthetic fabrics when they are being washed and dried. It is the synthetic fabrics that cause most of the problems. Consider not using the dryer for drying nylon, rayon and other synthetic fabrics; dry these on a clothesline or dry them flat on a drying rack instead.

But the simplest way I know to prevent static cling on clothes is to not dry your clothes all the way in the dryer. If the clothes are a little damp static cling cannot form on the clothes. Try using a dryer rack for the last 10% of the drying process.
