Enabling community projects and helping along dreams are the rewards for the members of North Itasca Electric Coop who generously round up their bills each month. Although each month each member may contribute pennies, those pennies add up to dollars. Each year the independent RoundUp Board is able to give away over $10,000 in both April and October at its grantmaking sessions.
Applications for the October awards are due in the cooperative office on Friday, Oct. 5. The grant-making session will be on Wednesday, Oct. 17. Applications are available at the cooperative office, by calling North Itasca Electric at (800) 762-4048, by emailing kathej@nieci.com, by contacting your cooperative director or one of the Trust Board members, or online at www.NorthItascaElectric.com. The application form is simple and straightforward.
Grants are generally made to nonprofit, civic or community-based organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhance quality of life. They are distributed primarily in the cooperative’s service area, and should be in one or more of these categories: community service, education and/or youth, community economic assistance, environment, emergency energy assistance and disaster relief.
