2 Naturalist program on Nature’s Fingerprints at the Discovery Center, 1 mile north of Marcell on Hwy. 38, 11 a.m.
3 Arts & Crafts Fair at Bigfork High School, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., quilt show, bake sale, lunch. All items handmade, proceeds go to health care scholarships. Admission $1
3 Deer River Township beef and pork barbecue fundraiser, 4:30-7:30 p.m. at new community center 4 miles north of Deer River on Hwy 6, then 3 miles east on County Road 19. $8.50 adults, $4 children 4-10; under 4 free.
3 Opening reception for the Edge Gallery Centennial Exhibit: Artistic Interpretations of Bigfork History, 5-7 p.m. Always free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Thurs. and Sat., 1-4 p.m., Fri. 1-7 p.m.
3-6 White Oak Society Rendezvous at fur post north of Deer River on Hwy 6. Fri. and Sat. 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission $6.
4 Swampsiders annual beef and pork barbecue, noon -8 p.m. Activities all day, barbecue at 5 p.m.. $8 adults, $4 under 12. Public invited.
4 Naturalist program Who’s out after dark? at Mosomo Point Campground, 7 p.m.
5 Marcell Community Church hosts the Alzen Family’s bluegrass music. 6 p.m., freewill offering. Call 832-3200 for more information.

7 Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary Field Trip. $18 adults, $15 children 6 to 17. See black bears in their native habitat. Call 832-3444 for more information.
8 Smokey Bear’s Birthday celebrated at the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center, 17 miles north of Deer River on Highway 46, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
10-12 Koochiching County Fair in Northome
12 Pat Surface and the Spiritwind Music Group, "America’s music" at the Edge Center
13 Women of the Woods meet at 10 a.m. at the Sand Lake Community Center. All women in the area welcome! Call Connie Vesey at 659-4669 for information.
