4 Naturalist program on eagles at the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center , 17 miles north of Deer River on Highway 46, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
5 Naturalist program on the black bear at the Marcell Family Center, 11 a.m.
6 Opening reception for the Edge Gallery 3rd annual juried art exhibit, 5-7 p.m. Come meet the artists and vote for the People’s Choice award. Voting is 1-4 on Thurs., July 5 and 1-6 on Friday, July 6. Awards for winning artwork at 6:30 p.m. on July 6. The July exhibit runs from July 5-28. Always free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Thurs. and Sat., 1-4 p.m., Fri. 1-7 p.m.
6-8 59th annual Wild Rice Festival in Deer River. Events daily, pow wow 6 p.m. July 6, Fireworks 10 p.m. July 7, parade 1 p.m. July 8.
9 Women of the Woods meet at 10 a.m. at the Sand Lake Community Center. All women in the area welcome! Call Connie Vesey at 659-4669 for information.

10 Valley Fair trip for ages 7 through the Marcell Family Center, 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. on chaperoned bus. Seven hours at the park, $50.
13-16 Stages Theatre Company presents “HONK!!”: The award-winning musical based on the story of “The Ugly Duckling” by Hans Christian Anderson. Performances: 7 p.m. Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14, and 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15.
14 Naturalist program on “Natures Finger Prints” at the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
14 Health Expo at Bigfork Valley, 1-4 p.m. Door prizes, health information and screenings, workshops, displays, picnic lunch. Come see the health care campus.
14 “Bridging Cultures: Share Our Cultures Day” at the Blackduck History and Art Center; 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

21 Balsam Township Centennial Celebration, including a parade at 10 a.m., Second Wind Harmonica Band, bingo games, settler skills demonstrations, storytelling. Variety Show (7 p.m.), Not Necessarily Bluegrass, old time dancing and fireworks.
21 4th annual Art of the Garden Tour hosted by Itasca County Master Gardeners and MacRostie Art Center (MAC), Grand Rapids, 10-5 p.m. Featured will be rural gardens of the members of the North Country Gardeners Club. Salad luncheon at the Marcell Family Center, craft and bake sale, workshops. $25
21 Raptors will be at the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center, 17 miles north of Deer River on Highway 46, 3 p.m.
23 Women of the Woods meet at 10 a.m. All women in the area welcome!
24 Northwoods Quilters meet at Marcell Town Hall, 9 a.m. Free and open to everyone. Potluck lunch, afternoon session continues to about 3.
