June 2007 Calendar

1 Last day of classes, Bigfork, Eagleview, North, Deer River
1 Blackduck High Schol graduation 7:30 p.m.
1 North School 6th grade graduation, 9:30 a.m.
2 Bigfork High School graduation, 2 p.m.
2 Fish Fry at Carpenter Town Hall, 4-6 p.m. Adults $8, children 12 & under $4. Raffles, homemade pie and lots of fish and trimmings. Benefits the Deer Lake Watershed Association
3 Deer River High School graduation, 2:30 p.m.
3 Visit Scenic State Park south of Bigfork on Highway 7 (and any state park) today during the statewide open house without a vehicle permit. Camping and watercraft fees still apply.
5 North Country Gardeners meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Marcell Family Center to work on the center’s garden. Everyone welcome.
7-9 Freedom Conference at Gemmell Community Church. Call 897-5154.
8-10 Minnesota Take a Kid Fishing Weekend. Minnesota residents fish for free if fishing with a youth up to age 16
10 Founders’ Day at Effie Freidheim Lutheran Church, 11 a.m.
Open House and Community Chili Feed at Swampsiders Clubhouse on Highway 52 north of junction with Highway 7, noon -5 p.m. Chili, cornbread and dessert. See the new Fire Hall addition. Free will donation.
9 North Itasca Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting.
9 Bigfork Wilderness Days and Bigfork Centennial events all day in Bigfork
9 Wildernest Grand Opening and open house, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
11 Women of the Woods meet at 10 a.m. at the Sand Lake Community Center. All women in the area welcome! Call Connie Vesey at 659-4669 for information.
11 Squaw Lake City Council meets at 7 p.m. in the Community Center. All welcome.
11-21 College for Kids at Itasca Community College. Interesting classes on a variety of skills, crafts, art and technology. Call 327-4465 for more information.
12 “Stop & Stitch” quilting group meets at Marcell Family Center from 9:30 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Bring your supplies, $1 and a sack lunch. For more info, call Judy at 832-3237 or Rhonda at 832-3597
18 Bigfork Lions Club meets the third Monday at 6 p.m. at the Huskie Cafe. New members welcome. For more information, call Laurel Laudert at 743-6142
23, 24 Leech Lake Youth Division Annual Pow Wow for Youth at Eagleview School.
25 Women of the Woods meet at 10 a.m. All women in the area welcome!
26 Northwoods Quilters meet at Marcell Town Hall, 9 a.m. Free and open to everyone. Potluck lunch, afternoon session continues to about 3.
30 St. Catherine’s Catholic Church Pig Roast at Squaw Lake Communty Center
