March 15th rebates of $330.00 will be given out to customers installing a qualifying air conditioner when installed by a registered contractor. A properly installed air conditioner can save you 25 percent more energy then one not installed properly. Cycled Air-Conditioning:
- Electricity is sold for 3.8 cents per kWh.
- Electricity is available to run the air-conditioner at all times except during peak periods. During peak periods, the air-conditioner is cycled ON for 15 minutes then OFF for 15 minutes. The cycling continues until the peak period is over.
- Peak periods occur during no specific time period. They can occur for a few hours or up to 6 hours at a time. While we are never sure when a cycled air-conditioning control period will occur, there is a high likelihood of the power being shut off when outside temperatures are their highest.
- A/C units can be cycled up to 200 hours per year.
- To qualify for the program, a central air-conditioner or a mini split system must be used. Window air-conditioners do not qualify. All air-conditioners at the location must be cycled.
